Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration

January 17 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

The Resistance Center for Peace and Justice is excited to host our 38th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration. The day-long, virtual event will include a self-guided historic walking tour, a convocation with speakers, community workshops, and opportunities to get involved in social justice work.

This year’s event will center around the idea that land justice here fosters justice everywhere. We strive to explore the connections between Dr. King’s legacy and contemporary struggles for peace and justice. We hope to unite the community around actions to fight for civil rights and eradicate the three evils of systemic racism, poverty, and war.

Our Keynote Speaker is Rhonda Anderson, Western Massachusetts Commissioner on Indian Affairs and Co-Director of the Ohketeau Cultural Center. Other speaking guests include City Councilor-elect Jamila Gore, a poem by Naima Penniman recorded at Soul Fire Farm (Director of Soul Fire Farm), and more!

The Convocation and select Workshops will be available to everyone online.
