Northampton

On Dec. 5th, 2019, , joining Greenfield, Easthampton, and Springfield to affirm that Northampton is a safe and welcoming community for all its residents, regardless of immigration status. On Oct. 17th, 2019, The Resistance Center for Peace & Justice, the ACLUM Immigrant Protection Project, and Indivisible Northampton partnered with City Council members to introduce the Northampton Safe City Ordinance. On Nov. 12, 2019, the ordinance passed through the City Council Legislative Committee with approval from Mayor David Narkewicz and City Solicitor Alan Seewald. The Northampton Safe City ordinance was unanimously passed by the City Council during both its sessions. Northampton has joined the ranks of other cities across the valley who have stepped up to defend immigrant rights and protect community safety.
