THE WALKING TOUR HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO EXTREME WEATHER. The rest of the MLK Day Celebration will continue at Edwards Church at 1pm.


Join us on January 21, 2019 from 10AM- 11:30AM.

Steve Strimer will lead our walk on the African-American Heritage Trail. 
We will meet at the and warm-up with coffee and hot cocoa midway at the . Click to see the full trail map.

Then at 1pm we will join the rest of the #MLKDay festivities in Northampton at the Edwards Church.

All events are free and open to the public.

David Ruggles

The David Ruggles Center for History and Education honors the contributions made to the abolition of slavery by courageous individuals in the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts. The location in the village of Florence within Northampton commemorates those who came here to challenge slavery, live in freedom, and establish a community based on principles of race, gender, class, and religious equality. The Center seek to educate and inspire visitors to possibilities in the present by sharing these powerful voices from the past.
