Ann Wright: The Freedom Flotilla
May 7, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 1:00 am
Retired Colonel and diplomat Ann Wright will be speaking on the night of
Monday, May 7th about her upcoming trip on May 15 with the Freedom
Flotilla Coalition – a nonviolent, international effort to break the blockade of
Gaza. Four boats will begin their 75 day voyage from Scandinavia before
going into the Mediterranean where they will make another 5 port visits–all
as educational events to talk about the horrific conditions in Gaza. They will
begin their sail from the last port in the Mediterranean toward Gaza in midJuly.
“Israel has maintained an inhumane and destructive blockade for Gaza for
over a decade. The United Nations now says that Gaza will become
uninhabitable by the year 2020 because of the blockade.”
Ann Wright is a retired Army Reserve colonel and a 29-year veteran of the
Army and Army Reserves. She was a US diplomat for 16 years. She
resigned from the US government in 2003 in opposition to the war on Iraq.
She is active in peace and social justice issues with Veterans for Peace and
CODEPINK and is the co-author of Dissent: Voices of Conscience.
