Red Books Day with the Anti-Imperialist Action Committee
February 21 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
On February 21, 1848, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels published The Communist Manifesto, a book that continues to have tremendous relevance for working-class struggles today. This February 21st, the Anti-Imperialist Action Committee (Western Massachusetts) invites you to join us for Red Books Day, a worldwide commemoration of this monumental text and a discussion of its relevance for our organizing work.
On this day, people across the world will join the call to read and discuss The Communist Manifesto in dozens of languages and initiate discussions about other Red Books. These texts are essential in our struggle for a better world. We will not simply read Marx’s and Engels’s text but breathe new life into it from an anti-racist and anti-imperialist point of view and discuss its relevance as a tool for our current struggles. The idea for Red Books Day is not merely to celebrate the publication of the Manifesto and deepen our tools of struggle, but to stand in solidarity with the comrades who have been facing attacks from the right-wing.
